I'm a self-employed interior trim carpenter working in Pinehurst and the surrounding area of Moore County NC.
On this site you will find pictures of some of my work, contact information and a brief description of my construction background along with a list of local contractors whom I have worked for over the years. This site is under construction so please bear with me!
I guess you could say carpentry is in my genes. I began learning this craft at the knee of my grandfather and father who built many of the historic landmarks in downtown Aberdeen, NC.
As a teenager, I went to work with my father who at that time was a construction Superintendent for John William Brown Construction out of Sanford, NC. I worked with him for about seven years doing commercial work and some residential. After working with him I went to work with a framing contractor for about the same amount of time. About 24 years ago I decided I'd had my fill of framing and commercial work. I also decided I wanted to be my own boss at that point and decided to go into interior trim.
I do everything from the basic window, door and baseboard routine to built-in cabinets, mantels, stairs and crown molding and when given the oportunity, design.
I worked alone for about twelve years. At that point the homes began to triple and quadruple in size (and I was getting a little older too) so I started working with another carpenter to speed things up some. He does the sawing and I do the installing. Together we make a very good team!
Recently, I have tried my hand at furniture finishing.
Although there is a lot to learn about this particular craft, I enjoy new challenges and hope to add this to my repertoire of skills in the near future.
I'm fortunate to live in an area where there has always been abundant work for me. There are many retirees in this area and they love to play golf and live where they play and build large homes. Over the years I have trimmed out homes from the very inexpensive to as much as $4,000,000.00 in value.
